Connecting to a device on different subnet

I have recently invested in a DroboPro. I have been told putting it on a different subnet will maximise performance.

How do I get devices which are on the same LAN (but different subnet) to connect to the Drobo?

How are your devices currently connected together and will the extra effort of putting it on a different subnet actually yield any noticeable differences here?

Thanks for the reponses. I don't know if any noticable improvement would be seen, but Data Robotics won't support the device if its not on a different subnet.

My current home network consists of a router with a switch elsewhere in the house.

IF you need access from one PC - add in a secondary ip address/subnet to the network card/adaptor - achieved.

If you want access from all pc's on network, add it into the servers network adaptor and setup a persistant route.

"Q: Can I connect DroboPro directly to an Ethernet switch?
A: You can connect one or more DroboPros to a network and have them accessible from a single host, provided the host is on the same subnet."
