OK, firstly I dont really know what I am doing with all this stuff, I hate networking, I am terrible at it.

I have changed my modem/router today, and it's mostly all fine, the new router is a Fritzbox 7530 supplied by my ISP Zen Internet.

When I go into the router web interface it lists the devices connected and shows the assigned IP for each (so my PC, laptop, the phones connected to wifi etc).

It also shows the TP Link powerline and wifi extender, however, for some reason it doesnt display an IP address for these devices.

When i try and use the IP I used to connect to it, so 192.168.0.1 (default IP) in the browser just hangs then doesnt connect.

I am trying to get into the web interface for the wifi extender so I can change the SSID and password over.

Any ideas what I need to do?

EDIT: sorry I didnt mention, the powerline and wifi repeater are still working, all be it on the existing settings.

Chances are the router is using 192.168.1.x for all the devices in your network so they can't access the powerline's IP address at 192.168.0.1. If you fix the IP by changing the 1 to a 0 then the device will be able to access it. Just bare in mind this will cause the device to lose internet until it's changed back to 1, but you can do this to set the powerline and extender to use DHCP instead of a static IP address so you can access it normally.

I tried the TP link software just said it couldnt see the TP link

This is what the router is seeing, the "tpver" is the TP Link wifi reapeter on the downstairs end of the powerlines, which is the thing I am trying to connect to.

Oddly, my CCTV box is also plugged into the router by ethernet cable in port 1, yet the router does see that at all?????????

Both were fine on the old router, so I dont understand whats going on.

What do your Chromecast and Google home mini connect to?

Also, see if the router has an option to view arp table or DHCP addresses

Ive sorted the CCTV box, turns out I had setup it up with a fixed IP address, I went into the CCTV box itself and enabled DHCP and it worked.

I have a feeling I did similar with the wifi repeater downstairs although its odd how my router can see that (and that fact its working) where as the (now fixed) CCTV box my router didnt see it at all.

Another issue I am having with this new router is its disconnecting every time the landland rings, now I did have that issue previously many years ago, but putting microfilters on each phone jack worked, I have the cables laid out EXACTLY as my old router and now I am getting this issue again. Odd one.

I might try and connect my laptop to the wifi repeater downstairs using the ethernet port and see what happens, see if I can figure out how to connect to it.

I am slightly happier now I've managed to get the CCTV connected, it'd be sods law something would happen and you'd need it otherwise.

Ok so a little more progress, well kinda.

So, I tried everything to access to web UI to the powerline/wifi extender, downloaded the TP link utility software, connected via ethernet, everything I could and just couldn't connect to it, its really odd it's like it doesn't have an IP address, and why the TP link software couldnt access it I have no idea, the TP link software saw both ends of the powerline, the top (dumb end) was recognised fine, but the bottom end (wifi extender end) it just saw as unknown device or similar, but......

The wifi extender as has a wifi clone thing, so you press the WPS button on the router, then press the clone button on the powerline extender and its cloned the wifi (which is the reason I wanted to access it) so, in a roundabout way, I have the end result I was after, although not quite solving the issue.

I'll buy that for a dollar.

Now just gotta figure out the internet dropping when the landline rings.

BUDFORCE -- I sympathies with you - it took me a month to get my cameras connected to the Hikvision DVR.

Now I have spent days trying to connect my two PC so they can talk to each other through the same BT Hub - MainPC on HUB and backup PC on powerplug - both joined by ethernet cable.

I don't think I will ever understand networking for as long as I live.

HAh snap! I also have a HIK vision box and the IVMS software, man its awful software.

On my old router I had to manually set an IP address on the HIK vision box for it to work. However on this new router, unless I set DHCP on the HIKvision box, my router didnt see it at all.

Agreed though, networking im terrible at it, I suspect what happens is, things dont work as they should do, but the problem being, I don't know enough about it to know what it should look like when everything is working.

I have the Idiots guide to Networking and after page one I get that rolling eyes syndrome.

I had to download Firefox 45 so I could watch Video playback etc on Hik DVR - None of those appy things worked for me so after 5 yrs I still can't look at footage.
All I can do is through the onscreen menu but to be honest that is all I need. I think all my problems were due to fact I missed the bit at start of setup where you changed the password to each camera as every few months I get a pop up saying P/W are weak.
Other than that I am pleased with the setup - can look all round the house to find out where the cat is hiding. ;)
