Connecting to a wireless network with a macbook

I can only connect to the wireless network at home with a cable but any other network works as long as it doesn't have a password with it.

The router is a standard netgear job and no one else has a problem connecting to it does anyone have any ideas?

can you elaborate a bit more, does it give an error message?

I set the network up on this computer could that be anything to do with it?

I had this issue with my father's MacBook on my parent's network.

Had to change the router to solve it

I was using NO security and it wouldn't stay connected (and when it did it'd take 3 reboots to pick up the wireless).

Try the tip in the software sticky.. it may work for you.
