Connecting to Amp via 5m SPDIF

Need to connect the pc to my Onkyo which is 4m away and also feed the PJ which is 4m the other way :rolleyes:

Plan is to connect to the PJ via HDMI and the amp via a 5m TOSLINK, does the signal degrade much over these distances and is there any better way of doing this?
