connecting to different hotpots with same name?

Hi guys, sorry if this is a silly question but do you know how I can get airport to connect to a particular wifi hotspot out of a bunch sharing the same name?

Currently awaiting a proper internet connection but for the moment am using BT openzone ad its flakey to say the least - there appear to be several BT openzone/BT FON hotspots nearby and it seems to be pot luck as to which airport will connect to - one in particular is problematic and doesn't give me an internet connection. Solution at present is to keep disconnecting and reconnecting to 'BT Openzone' until I'm connected to different hotspot - being able to select it from the outset would be good but obviously airport just lists 'BT openzone' and not the individual hotspots.
 
If you hold down the Option key and click on the wifi icon at the top it shows you a lot more information about each one. You could then note which ones are better and remember to connect to that one (can't remember what information etc is given but sure it shows the MAC address of it)
 
Thanks but the problem is connecting to a particular hotspot in the first place - it will only display one 'BT openzone' despite there being several nearby and unfortunately the one it connects to most frequently is the flakey one. Strong wifi signal but no Internet access.
