Connecting to newsgroups

I've just started thinking about looking at some newsgroups, however, I'm finding it quite hard to connect and use the software.

At the moment I'm using News Xpress. Can anyone recommend me another piece of software and give me a step by step guide on how to connect?

I pony up the cash and do my newsgroups with Newzbin and Newsleecher...One-click, and it's downloaded, PAR-checked, repaired if neccessary, and un-RAR'd to my preferred location.

NZB files are so much easier than trawling the groups yourself, but if it takes your fancy, you can still do it with Newsleecher.

I use Newzbin along with SABnzbd for the downloading, un-paring, and un-raring. Found SABnzbd to use a lot less resources (compared to newsleacher - it dosen't slow down my lappy) and simplier to use (once setup), it just isn't as pretty.

edit: Forgot to say SABnzbd is free doh!

Thanks - do all newsgroups need a login and password? Or is that just something I need to make Newsleecher work?
