When connecting to domain via a wireless connection, how do you force the wireless cards to connect to the network before the use logs in.

Normally the wireless connection is established once the user loads up their desktop, however using roaming profiles this isnt really feasable.

It does it automatically for all our laptops running xp sp2 and we havent touched the wireless settings, just setup preferred networks, the usual stuff

I'll have to take a peek at work on our laptops.

But we have 14 laptops which all have roaming profiles and they all work wirelessly.

will let you know.

One thing i've just remembered is that we had to setup the laptops using cat5 first then enable to wireless ensuring that the WEP code and whatnot was entered. Then pull the cat5 out and let the wireless take over. When you logoff it should save the profile back to the server using the wireless NIC.

Well we have 5 or 6 laptops here. Most connect fine, but one particular one doesnt initiate the wireless connection until after it logs in.

This user has to log in, let it establish the connection then he logs off and back in again and all is well.

What's the client hardware? Are you using Windows zero configuration or manufacturer's setup that uses profiles?
