just digged my 360 out and wanted to connect to xbox live again.

I used to have my pc connecting to a hub which was connecting to my router. I then had my xbox 360 connected to my pc and used a network bridge so i could connect to xbl.

I am now using a wireless router and my pc is connected to it via wireless. I still want to connect my xbox to my pc via ethernet and to use my pc's internet connection.

Im a bit confused how to do this to be honest.

Ive tried having auto settings on both xbox and the network connection it is connected to. Also tried manually setting the ip etc.

Whatever i choose to do, it always fails on "ip address" on the test connection.

Can anyone help

Couple of things:

Suppose your routers ip address is 192.168.0.1

Have you MANUALLY set the IP address of your Xbox to be 192.168.0.? - where ? is any number BUT 1 and the IP address of your PC?

Hi Vicious,

From what i've read you want to go:

[Router] ))))) [PC] ------ [Xbox]

To achieve this you still have to bridge connections both your wireless and LAN.

This guide should help you ;)

il try to explain better what i want

Router )))))))))) PC ------------- Xbox

PC connected to router via Wireless.

Using A LAN port, i connect the pc to the xbox 360.

I want the xbox 360 to connect with the router via the pc, so the xbox 360 can access the interenet (uses the pc;s internet connection).

I tried bridging the wireless and lan but then i couldnt access the internet on my pc anymore, nor could my xbox get any further than failing the ip test.

I tried having the connections not bridged.

I set the wireless connection to this:

IP: 192.168.1.5
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (routers ip)

On my Xbox i set everything the same except the ip to 192.168.1.6

i cannot still get it to work, can anyone help ?

ok,

I have the Exact setup as you in terms of connecting up.

I am using a Netgear router DG834PN which transmitts wirelessly to my PC.
My pc is then Pugged into the Xbox via LAN.

I then bridged the connections which made an internet gateway.

All my TC/IP settings for the bridge are automatic and i have set the Xbox IP sewttings as follows:

IP: 192.168.0.240 (or 192.168.1.*** for u vicious)
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.0.1)

My DNS settings are Automatic.

I also created a DMZ to open up my NAT but you can Open up certian ports on your router manually which i would advise over a DMZ. These ports can be found on the Xbox site.

Also, sometimes the xbox doesnt connect so i have to test the Xbox live connection which then works and log in that way.

ok it seems that whenever i make the wireless connection part of the bridge, it disconnects me from the internet. i tried restarting my pc and the netgear software came up with a message saying to connect the adapter before running the software again.

im using a net gear wg 111 v2 usb adapter i dunno if that will make a difference.

is there any other way of doing apart from the bridge or is there a way i can stop it disconnecting me from the internet when i make it part of the bridge?
