Connecting turntable

You need a phono stage such as the Project Phono Box or the Cambridge Audio 640p, both are great budget options.

It depends if the amp/receiver in question has the right phono stage, not all do and some only have one type. If it has the correct one you don't need to buy another.

Well, i now have ordered an Onkyo 607, i am getting the Project Genie 3 for my father, i can get it at a knock down price so it's a no brainer to get it. With this combo will i require one?

From a quick scan of a picture of the back of the unit, you will need a phono pre amp

Its as i feared, are the two phono premaps above the ones to get or can i go for a more budget option? is is that not really advised. Will be feeding into the Onkyo 607 which for stereo use will be powering some Mordaunt short 904i's

Thanks,
Josh
