We recently upgraded to Telewest TV Drive and its currently only connected via scart (so no HDTV). The only way our TV will recieve hd is through composite since the DVI port lacks HDCP ( ) but theres a problem. The cable we bought has red, white and blue leads yet the ports on the back of our TV and TV Drive are red, blue and green? Can we still use the cable we bought with these sockets (red green and blue instead of white yellow and red?) TV Drive does have the red and white ports for the left and right channel audio but no yellow. Any help will be appriciated, the cable we bought cost 20 and I don't want to open it unless we can deffinetly use it.

If it helps: The composite lead we bought is by Belkin. The red green and blue ports are labelled 'Y Pb Pr' in my TVs manual.

You can use that cable yes. At one point, for testing purposes, I even tried using an AV lead from a component out to component in on a TV. It worked just as well as my RGB component lead.

Just make sure each individual lead connects to the right connector, ie. you do red to red, green to green, blue to blue.

I haven't worded it correctly sorry. I have been doing some investigations and it appears I got confused between composite and component (doh sorry:rolleyes:!). I bought a composite plug for a component connection. So can I use a composite cable for a component signal? It may be a silly question but I have no knowledge with regards to cables etc

The connectors are identical and it will work. Give it a shot. Although not ideal, it will work as like I say, the connection is identical. I would suggest changing it for the correct lead though, as the signal quality will be dramatically reduced (so I'm told... my brother in law is using an old RWY lead for his hi-def output and I've not noticed any degradation in quality :S)

hey cheers for the advice. One more bit of help :):
1) Yelow cable goes into: red, green or blue?
2) red cable goes into: red, green or blue?
3) white cables goes into: red, green or blue? (or does it even matter?)

I might just wait and return the cable for a proper component cable tomorrow but I am desperate to see high definition on our tv :(

LOL. You could wait for the right cable (as I don't want to cost you an extra cable!)

So long as the connection from red-red, blue-blue, green-green is made it doesn't made. So you could use the red cable for red-red... yellow green-green, white, blue-blue.

Thing is though, there are only 7 hours until the shops open ;)

ahhh darn it. I will wait. It will be better thinking I have a much better picture. Found a cable from a competitors that has a shop near by so I'll wait *stares at clock*.

Good choice. I don't know how much difference it will make, but it's better to have the right tool. The lead my brother in law used or once used was some really OLD skanky lead. It was barely flexible, that's how old. He was too excited to wait for the shop to re-open. Or, maybe I was ;)

doesn't sound like a healthy lead lol. Does this lead sound good? I would get the 1.5m one since the distance between the cable box and the tv is around that and shorter cable, less interference right?
