Hi guys , I'm hoping someone can advise on this , I've connected a 37 inch sony bravia via hdmi to my msi 7950 3gb twin frozr .
The problem I get is a random screen blackout for a few seconds , there does not seem to be a set pattern , just intermittent .
When I have both the monitor and tv mirrored , the monitor is fine , just the tv drops out , so I'm guessing it's not the card , more than likely something on the hdmi connection or a tv setting ?
I only want to watch movies / youtube , will keep the gaming on my monitor .
I've done loads of googling , and found loads of "possible" causes , but has anyone encountered similar problems / found solutions , I don't want to start changing loads of settings without having much of a clue .
Thanks in advance if anyone can advise .

i used to have the same set-up with a 27in monitor and a 40in samsung monitor.
it is strange to because i also had a similar card a 7970. i would go down the root of checking all the hdmi sockets on the gpu and tv. also i would ensure that when you connect the tv to your system that it is configured in the windows os screen settings.

also i would suggest a 1 at a time strategy so just connect the tv to the gpu and see if that picks it up. and if it does then connect the main monitor to the other socket.in regards to tv settings i wouldn't think you need to change anything but just make sure you choose hdmi 1 on the screen if their are multiple sockets.

Thanks for the reply , out of curiosity I have now plugged the monitor vga feed into the 37 inch sony , and the hdmi into another small tv , and guess what ? it works perfectly
So it definitely seems to be some sort of compatability issue between the sony tv and the hdmi connection , which is a killer as I had the sound through hdmi , which I can't utilise via the vga connection .
Could it be a possibility the card is not giving enough juice to the hdmi port ?
Is it worth clocking it up a few notches ?

I have same problem with my PC / 27" monitor connected via DVI - blanks then returns - intermittently. Will try HDMI and VGA. Cannot find a reason!

Just swapped hdmi leads and it seemed to have sorted it , but it's off again now , I really think it's a sony issue , as the bush tv I tried earlier worked perfectly , another point to mention is the screen has started to go a purple / pinkish shade sometimes with the crashes , although the monitor remains unaffected when they are mirrored , would it be worth trying a decent quality hdmi lead ,or are they all the same ?

Ok , looks like I'm screwed , seems the "hdmi handshake" is the problem , just found a few vids on youtubby of the exact same issue , and amazingly there is no firmware upgrade available for this model , so I dunno what to do .
I'm gonna start a new post on suggestions to get my pc connected to tv and still have the audio if possible , so this thread can be locked if you like or deleted , however it may come in handy as I'm sure someone else will have this problem again .
Thanks for the replies .
