Hi guys,

Im currently mid build and its my first in six years. Previous to this i had bought a case where the fans just went into the mobo and i gave little thought to their workings. Now however i want to do things properly.

My question is i have six fans to connect up -

2 on my top rad for cpu
2 high pressure in the front as intake
1 bottom exhaust
1 back exhaust

I know a lot of people use fan controllers and i wont be able to get one just yet. So am i going to hit troubles not being able to control their speeds when i first boot this or will i be fine?

Apologies if this is a noobie question.

You can usually manage 2 fans per motherboard header using spliter cables. The amount of control you get will depend on your motherboard. Some boards control pwm and DC, while some do just pwm or just DC. You may have a few headers allow control or have just one. Depends.

Thanks tealc. Can i get multi adaptors, so that i can plug them in behind the case then have few connections going into view?

Anything that you do now would likely be wasted if you later get a fan controller.

If you want to run fans at full speed then this would do.

One of these would allow motherboard mounting and possible fan control, depending on your motherboard options.

One of these PWM splitters would be useful if you have PWM fans.

Thanks mate. If i were to get a fan controller, would im guessing id still need some extension cables to plum them into the controller as the fans at the back of my case would never reach the front bay or do you get some cables with a fan controller?
