Connecting VGA laptop to HDMI projector. Help

So I have finally managed to get my projector up and running. I want to connect a laptop(VGA)to the projector (HDMI) to play Movies. Is it just a simple VGA to HDMI cable I need like this?

Unless the laptop outputs a digital signal via VGA (highly unlikely), that cable will not work. Typically, VGA is analogue only and HDMI is digital. There has to be a conversion from analogue to digital or vice versa. A cable alone will not do that.

You'll have to spend a little more and get a cable that includes a box which will contain the conversion hardware. This one should do the job. Has a lot of good user comments on the jungle site.

Hooked up the converter and I cant get the Laptop to display on the Projector. I hooked it up to my TV to try that and still nothing?

Sorted. I had to change the output of the Laptop in the graphics settings.
