Hi,

So it goes:-

tele(inbuilt freeview) --- vhs player...

I can watch videos but cant record from the freeview channels..

I tried finding the main freeview channel using my vhs player but i can only find channels 1 - 5...

what am i doing wrong?

pls help

Hi

The vhs player will not find the freeview channels because the tuner on the vhs machine is analog and freeview channels are digital.

You should be able to record the freeview channels from your tv by connecting a scart lead from the tv to the scart input on the vcr allowing you to record what is on the screen.

hey thanks for your response...

when i connected my freeview to my vhs as there was no picture being displayed on the tv the vhs player failed to record anything...

what did i do wrong?

thanks

yep I did BUT however the analogue channels came up and not the freeview channel - goes back to the analogue signal you were referring to above...

if i left the scart input channel blank then the recording would be blank...

what am i doing wrong?

if i cant get the digital freeview signal on the scart input of the video then how does the video know what to record? because its recording a blank channel

Hi

I have just tryed it with my old vhs recorder and my samsung tv which has inbuilt freeview it works for me.

This is what i did connected a scart from av1 on the tv to the vhs recorders decoder/video scart input then selected the input with the vhs remote and it recorded what was on the screen.

What model tv do you have.

thanks for testing it on your system thats very kind of u...

its a technik (with inbuilt freeview) flat screen from tesco and a funai video and dvd player inbuilt unit...

my current setup is as follows:-

a) tv scart to video
b) freeview aerial from hole in wall to back of video
c) rf out lead from video to tv

when you connected it all up did u have a picture on the screen when you selected the video input? if yes, then this is what i cannot do, if you didnt have a picture on screen then i dont know how it recorded blank??

thanks for your help so far

Hi

Yes i did have a picture when i selected the video input on the vhs machine.

Does the tv have a second scart input have you tryed that some makes of tv say the vcr should be connected to av2 worth a try.

Ive been thinking why dont you just buy a cheap freeview box for £20 connect it directly to the video recorder that way you can record from the freeview box but you can still watch the inbuilt freeview on the tv.
