I was wondering if anyone has been able to connect to Sky with a MER connection, with a non Sky router?
I believe that a MER connection does not use a username and password, but instead uses the MAC address of the Sky router to connect.
So in theory, if someone were to clone/spoof the MAC address of the Sky router and use this on the non Sky router, this would be all that would be needed to connect with MER on the non Sky router.
Why I ask the above is. I am thinking of purchasing the Billion 7800N and according to the the specs of it, it supports 'MAC Encapsulated Routing (RFC 1483 MER)'.
I am thinking ahead here, but if Sky do eventually disable the ability to connect via PPPOA and instead have everyone on a MER connection, then a non Sky router, would need to have the ability to be able to connect via MER and as far as I can see the Billion 7800N allows this.
