hi all,

My friend came round today so he could show off his Xbox 360 on my philips 42PF7621D/10 LCD TV
However when connecting it up via composite? (red, blue, green wires) i couldn't get any sound because my TV doesnt have an L and R audio plugs.
It only has Digital audio in and L R audio outs.

Because of this i had to settle for the standard Yellow,White and red connection. :(

SO is there any way i can solve this problem Via an adaptor or do i have to wait till i get my Amp.

Can you use digital audio with component.. probably a silly question but i cant be bothered getting on the floor and looking for an optical out.

I know the VGA cables do.

The TV should more than likely have a menu option that will allow you to specify what audio source the HD component source can use, this will probably be one of the other AV inputs.

Have a check of your TVs manual to see if this is the case.

Edit: Looking at the TV spec online, there should be a 3.5mm jack connection you can use to connect the audio into, this will need a 2x Phono to 3.5mm Jack convertor for that task, like this:

Of course, else the 360 would be a pretty crappy system if you couldn't get digital sound from it while using HD :p

You have got it the other way around -the red, blue and green wires are component, not composite
Anyway, you need to buy a seperate digital audio cable if you wish to utilize the digital audio from the HD AV cable.

The digital audio is a bit pointless really on a 2 channel TV anyway, as TV speakers I've found are pretty poo, so there wouldn't be that much noticable difference between analogue and digital 2channel.

ty People for the Advise,

Cant wait to get my 360 soon.

And ty hairyhen for the correction on the component cables, at least i've learnt something now during my summer hols! ;)

I personally prefer Complonent to VGA, but there isn't a whole lot in it if you compare the official cables.
