Hi,

Currently I have my Xbox 360 connected via HDMI to my LG TV.

I wanted to see if there was a way I could also connect it to my Acer 22" LED Monitor (mainly if the Mrs wants to watch the TV I can switch display).

I looked into it and it seems I need to buy a HDMI to DVI connector/cable to hook the video display to my monitor, then I would need either a Optical to RCA or Xbox AV to RCA for the audio.

Can someone confirm this would work?

Also I looked at HDMI switchers for around £5 and that seems to be an option for keeping it all hooked up without pulling cables in and out, would that work too?

Thanks

:)

I used to do this with my old monitor, I bought the official VGA cable for my 360 which also had the RCA cables, I then connected to a small headphone amp.

Yeah I have the Xbox VGA cable. I tried it earlier but the quality was a lot lower than using HDMI on my TV.

I was told if I use DVI (HDMI to DVI adapter) the quality would look exactly like it would on the TV. Then all I would need to do is sort audio via Optical to RCA etc.

I did put the resolution of the VGA to 1920x1080 but it didn't look anything near the HDMI. I was told VGA is analog and HDMI/DVI are digital and thats why DVI would be better.

Is it possible to get a HDMI to DVI adapter/cable that has audio output functions combined on it? Similar to the Xbox VGA cable but DVI.

It just means I can avoid pulling cables in and out when I want to switch displays.

XBOX 360 >> HDMI Switcher >> (Port 1) : HDMI to TV (video and audio to LG tv) (Port 2) : HDMI to DVI w/ Audio Outputs to connect to speakers are monitor doesn't have audio.

Then I can just use the switcher remote to go between bother without changing any cables around.
