Connecting XBox 360 To Monitor

I am getting an old XBox 360 and would like to connect it to my PC monitor.

The monitor is connected to the PC via DVI-D connection.

The old Xbox 360 only has a composite connection available.

Can I use a composite to HDMI or VGA (I don't mind about picture quality) to connect these two?

Also, is there a way of getting the speakers to work a part from unplugging the AUX cable from the PC to my monitor each time that I want to play on the XBox 360 (if this is even the right thing to do)?

Thanks.

If you check the rainforest "xbox 360 vga" there's loads of cables that turns it to a VGA connection. The official one that costs £16 also comes with an adapter to convert the RCA cables to a normal 3.5mm audio jack.

Have you considered using a 3.5mm splitter to allow you to connect both the xbox and the PC's audio to the monitor? Although you will hear sounds from both devices at the same time if they're both on.

Thanks a lot. That is very helpful. I will look into these steps and reply back.

*bump* Well it didn't come with an adapter. It was an official one from the rainforest but came in a bag and not the packaging.

Strange, the reviews mention the adapter, and the fact you received it in a bag makes it sound quite fishy...

If you search "RCA female to 3.5mm male" then that will get you the right adapter.

Actually checking the more recent reviews it seems everyone else is getting it in a bag, so perhaps it may be due to Microsoft not supplying it at one point, causing the seller to source it from elsewhere.

Found one for £0.87.

The only reason I'm doing this is to play Red Dead Redemption. I've heard so many good things.

Also, I have an official wireless XBox controller for Windows. Would this work with the XBox too? Just wondering.

It should do. I have one (bought from OCUK) that works fine with my XBox 360. I think the only real difference is you get a wireless adapter to use it with a PC incuded.

Edit:
You do have to reconnect it when switching between PC and Xbox though by holding your finger on the wireless button on the controller then pressing the button on the Xbox or the wireless PC adapter.

Ah that is fair enough.

Thank you.
