Hi All,

I have a question regarding the connection of a sound card. I remember in the old days you had to connect the CD-ROM/DVD drive to either the Mobo or the sound card via a 4-pin audio connector cable (analog) or a 2 pin SPDIF cable (digital) in order to get sound from the drive.

Having just bought a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series (quite a mouthful), there was neither such a cable included nor does it say anything about connecting to the DVD drive. Even worse: there isn't an internal connector which you could connect the DVD drive to! However, the DVD drive clearly has the digital and analog audio connectors.

So here's the question: Do I need this connection to play audio CDs on the DVD drive and if so, where do I connect it to? If not, will this still be an optimal sound quality from the drive?

Cheers
