Connection Constantly Stalling

Hi Guys,

My issue at the moment is that at least every minute my internet connection seems to slow or stall completely. For example when I click a link nothing happens for around ten seconds and then the page loads. This happens every minute or so and on all pages. I can try to open multiple pages in different tabs, they sit there for a while and then all load at the same time.

I'm on Virgin 50MB and haven't made any changes to settings or the hub and the internet has always been instant before.

Any ideas as to what this could be as it's getting very frustrating now clicking through links at will to all of a sudden just having to wait or refresh to get the pages to load.

Thanks

rather than your connection - is it your browser doing this, or perhaps your machine has a process which is using up resources every 10 seconds or so therefore slowing freezing your machine until it is finished what its doing?

I don't think so. I have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome and they all stall and at the same time if I have more than one open. Also I don't think it would be any other software as I've had a good look and I'm quite careful with what software and processes run in the background.

Could it just be Virgin Media or the superhub itself as my android phone sometimes does the same thing when browsing.

Put the superhub in modem mode and connect it to your computer. See if you notice a difference.

There is an absolute wealth of people on the virgin support forums who have the same problem. The problem is the "not-so-super" hubs.
There are lots of people who claim to have found fixes for the problems but very rarely do any of them work.
I'm only on my first hub but if I have anything above a 54mps speed on the 802.11 setting the hub constantly drops out and its supposed to be an n class 300mbps.

Virgin are aware of the problems, they go through a massive amount of gumph trying to get you to change setting sbut the end of it really is that they tell you to flick the superhub into modem mode and then they will send you a new Huwei (sp) wireless router.

I can't at the moment as the superhub is in another room and there is no connection here for it. I'm having a new media pc delivered in a couple of days which will sit under the tv next to the hub so can try it then.

Maybe I should phone up and complain then and see if I can get it changed if possible. I haven't been impressed with the hub at all since I have had it. It has constantly dropped connection and the wireless range is a lot poorer than my previous setup.

Exactly the same as me, exchanging a superhub for a superhub won't really help though. Insist on a separate router and then flick the superhub into modem mode and problems should go away.

Looks like it is something to do with the wireless communication between the hub and my USB adapter. Plugged my new HTPC into the hub directly and it's working perfectly.

Will probably get a 30m network cable and run it around the skirting board to my main pc, fed up with fiddling with this hub to get it working properly!
