Connection Dropping - Probably Due to SNR

I changed from MaxDSL to LLU just the order day (before finding out you could request to have the SNR raised) and so far, so good. I believe the target SNR on my current product is 8 or 9 so although I loose a little speed (was sync'd at 7128, now 6720) I'm a lot more stable - been online 55+ hours now :)

Ohh.... Got a phone number than doesn't send me to india? :p

Fraid not mate. Were on AOLs phone plan too so their 0870 support number is free to us, which means i dont care how long they faff around for and ultimately means you get treated better i think.. sorry.

Well, last night, 10:30ish, SNR dropped as per usual.

How long will it take BT to check the line? Will they have to send someone out?

Not long. AOL should have you go through a load of troubleshooting steps first.
If you/they had gone through this when the regrade initially was done it could've been rolled back in a matter of days as a failed green.

Will they have to send someone out?

Possibly.

i have just started getting constant dropped lines on bt 8 meg (actually 5,5 meg). it was fine forst 6 weeks but this week has been dropping constantly. BT insist the line is working fine. How do i troubleshoot the line from my end? i.e. how do i get the snr? I have the same problem even after trying 3 different modems (ethernet) and from seperate computers. I dont have a filter but a bt installed split box. An answering machine, 2 phones and tivo share the phone end of the line. For 3 years all was fine with 512mb and 2mb.

How you'll get SNR margin will depend on the modem you're trying to get it out of.
The FAQ has a list of suggestions.

Well, it hasnt been a week since i phoned and they said they will get BT to check it out, but im getting impatient.

Not to mention, yesterday my connection was dropping from 6pm onwards, even when i had an SNR of 10+. Well, thats weird... it shouldnt be dropping if it was just SNR... so maybe there is a fault on my line.

Either way, im thinking of upgrading my AOL package to their next level, where i would get a free wireless router. Do you think it is worth upgrading and seeing if this fixes the problem? Would it mean they send out an engineer to look at things anyway? Would he notice any other problems that may be on the line?

Just looking to get this fixed ASAP.
