connection dropping with new router

Ive just bought my first wireless router (speedtouch 580) cheap from an internet site.

Ive upgraded it to the latest firmware and am having problem with the red light comming on which indicates that 'internet connection setup failed'

I have connected to the internet for hours before but sometimes it doesnt connect

Im trying to figure out if its the router or my internet connection (orange)

The router is linked to my pc with the ethernet cable

still having problems, if i turn the router off for a while then back on it seems to work again.

as i havnt had a router before im unsure if ive set it up correctly.
