Connection dropping

About a week ago we had a power cut which weirdly wiped the router settings (I assume i entered correctly), since then the internet connection drops around 3-4 times a day but reconnects fine, this is really annoying when online gaming etc and i don't have a clue how to fix it other then buying a new modem but that's an expensive possible solution as i don't have a spare. Current router i am using is Netgear DGN2200

Post your stats. Attenuation, Noise margin. Advanced ADSL stats if you have them too might highlight something.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2311 kbps 518 kbps
Line Attenuation 64.0 db 38.5 db
Noise Margin 8.9 db 8.6 db

hope this helps.

Ask ISP to up your noise margin. Should stabilise the drops for you.
Otherwise, do you have anything that regularly happens at 4 hour intervals at all? (Other than internet drops) may be REIN brought on by damaged equipment by powercut.

If it's every 4 hrs, then the modem could be overheating. Is it hot to the touch? Does it power cycle automatically, or do you have to manually reset it?

it re-connects automatically but i find it faster to reboot the router in the settings because it takes a while before it realizes its disconnected ( if that makes sense).

Who is your provider?
Are you able to post more information like line errors line type (Fast/interleave) and so on.

Sounds like there is a lot of errors on the line and this is resetting the connection and so will take longer to come back up depending on line profile.
