connection drops when using peer to peer

I am on NTL 10meg, problem is my connection seems to drop when I try and use p2p programs. Its fine the rest of the time, but as soon as I start downloading I lose the connection and have to reset. Please help me!

what modem do you have? the older modems like the silver home:100 dont do p2p at all well. mine constantly drops connections if i try and use bit-torrent.

yup its the silver one. think its time to invest in a router/proper modem

a router wont help. you need to get the modem changed for a new one. its a known problems with the old ntl modems
