Hi all, ok so after talking to some guys i play online with moaning about getting shot all the time! the guy told me phone sky and ask about "fastpath" after talking to 4 different people and departments none of them knew what i was asking about.

strange as i can google search and find pages upon pages of people saying they gone across to fastpath!!

anyway the guy at sky told me to restart pc, restart router and then once its started to do a "netstat test"

once it had completed i had 28 connections and hte guy told me WOW thats a lot close down some of the programs thats are connected to internet.

i tell him my pc has just restarted and the only programs that start are rockt dock, microsoft security essentials and ati drivers.

so.. how can i reduce the "netstat connections? as sky told me reduce them first then phone us back.

has anyone else actually heard of or use fast path?

how can i get a better ping apart from changing isp?

thanks Ali

heres a speed test ive jsut done, for some reason the ping seems pretty good !! but its usually around the 70-100 mark.

speed test shows i got 8.something but sky told me my line is currently giving me almost 11mb

Yes, 70-100ms measured by what? Speedtest.net (which server?), a game, waving your hands about?
Thinkbroadband have a ping monitoring tool but command line ping to some host that you know isn't going to move and is reliable (e.g. the BBC or perhaps CERN) is more than good enough.

well i tried to wave my hands but it didnt do anything so i used speedtest.net as i just did and have always done.

sorry u are talking to complete novice when it comes to connections! command line ping doesnt mean a thing to me hence the reason i use speedtest.net
