Connection help

Hi all. I currently use a wireless home network for all my internet needs and I use orange broadband primarily cos its free with my orange moby, yea ive had it that long! Anyways I have the livebox that orange supply you with and I have a belkin G plus mimo adapter pluged into my pc via usb for the connection. Now for all of a sudden when I turn my pc on the adapter is playing up. The pc dosnt recognise it so I have to unplug it and plug it again for it to work. Does this mean the adapter is on its way out? If so what would be the best way for me to connect to the net in future wirelessley still using my livebox? Any help as always is appreciated.
