Hi guys, so I'm having some problems with my desktop after doing a clean install yesterday. I've been trying to download some games on Origin and Steam and neither has been successful, it sometimes starts one download briefly, slows down and switches to the other briefly then stops completely. I had some issues downloading some of the windows updates too, but was successful after clicking try again over and over. Youtube is also isn't working, it will load but I'll only see the video footage for the first 5 seconds or so and from there only hear the audio, after trying a few youtube videos it'll just stop completely. I've tried reinstalling Flash too but the same thing happens.

Internet speed isn't anything special but things should be working fine?

I'm not sure if I've maybe disabled something in the services list that I shouldn't have, usually I just disable computer browser and some homegroup things.

Faulty lan port or driver problem with it? try using a usb wireless adapter instead to see or add in a separate pci/pcie lan card...cheap from certain auction place :)

Don't think theres a hardware problem because I've just tried downloading the games in Steam/Origin while in Safe Mode with Networking and it's working fine. Youtube videos also buffered right away although they did fail to play.

Edit - While in safe mode my download speed in Origin is faster than I've ever seen it before, it's usually never been higher than 2.3MB/sec but it was hitting 4.5MB/sec

Need to give more information.

What OS?
Ethernet or wireless?
Have you updated to the latest driver?
Do you use any 3rd party crap like Zonealarm?
What AV do you use?

If they've all been covered, then I'd start with a memtest86 and check eventvwr

Hey, I'm using Windows 7 64bit and using a wired connection, I've updated to the latest driver and yeah, I'm using ZoneAlarm extreme security Firewall/AV but I've been using that for years. I am using a more recent release than I did before though. Saying that, I still ran Zonealarm in Safe mode and things worked fine so I'm not sure if it's Zonealarm or not.

Thanks for the help. What should I be looking for in event viewer?

Date/Time seems to be good, also checked through event viewer /system and didn't see a single warning or error notification. I thought I'd try it without Malwarebytes running because it wasn't running when I was in safe mode but still no difference.

Try Un-installing the network driver and let windows install the default one for your network card.

Also is any other device on the network downloading from steam fine?

So I uninstalled the network driver and decided I'd try reinstall Zonealarm too, so far seems to have sorted the problem, thanks.
