Somewhere I shouldn't be!
Hi,

I have for the last couple of weeks been having a strange issue with my BT connection, everytime I boot any of my PCs, the internet connection restarts, as in resyncing the ADSL signal.

Back in April I had some line problems that resulted in my throughput speeds dropping and no known cause, the BT engineers had been round twice but no real explanation for the drop in speed and blamed my cables.....

(Waiting for my current BT contract to expire then I will be on the move to Be.... 3 months and counting!!)

My master BT socket is an NTE5 socket in the hallway and then a 20m -ish run of cable from the hall into the living room when my main PC lives, this is connected to a Netgear router (834N) which is new.

I have replaced the cable from the hallway to the router (at BTs advice), I have replaced my ethernet cables for brand new ones, Cat5e. I still get this reboot of connection.

Next I tried a different router, I have an old Belkin and an old Speedtouch ADSL routers, I tried them both and I get the same thing.... start any PC wired or wireless and the connection restarts.

At this stage I dont want to spend anymore time on the BT support line as it takes far far too long to get what the problem is.

Other than the odd drop, the connection is stable unless another PC is booted up and connected.

There has been no new electrical equipment in the house, the main cable is new, my ethernet and modem cables are all new.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try or look at?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
