I feel like a complete mug having to ask this as I've done it before, its just been a while

Looking to temporarily share a connection on laptop, to a desktop pc using wired, their wifi adaptor died and its not practical to have the PC where the hub is, I have some cables lying around so they can leech net off me till it turns up.

The machines are using windows 7 + 8, I know it was a short process involving just sharing the connection under network settings but not getting anywhere, have not had to do anything like that for a couple years so know I'm forgetting something silly

Any suggestions?

Get a cheap switch? Hook up your PC's network cable to it.

Then plug in 2, one for your PC again and another for the laptop.

Much easier IMO.

Sorry for wasting your time the replies are much appreciated

I started over again and it decided to work, they have some net access so they can stop moaning in my ear

Its just temporary (yes just basic ICS enough for them to do little stuff on)

Thanks, have a good evening!
