connection speed

hi, i have a 4 mb line and im just wondering what dl speeds should i be getting because sometimes i only get very low like under 5kb/s.
And if u know any way i can fix this.

Should be 400-440kb/s as long as the server you're downloading from can handle that.

Also, if you use torrent / P2P then your ISP may have limited those ports / that program. Make sure you have random port on & encryption.

You should be getting about...4Mbps. 1Mbps = 1000 kbps, and 1kB/s = 8 kbps.

As for your speeds, it's impossible to comment without more information, like where you're getting those speeds from (source, protocol et al), what type of connection (ADSL or cable) you've got, who your ISP is, (if it's ADSL) some statistics from your modem or router, (if it's IPStream ADSL) the output from the BT Speedtester (instructions in FAQ).
