Conroe And Ninja

supafly - According to the info on the Scythe product pages, there is no problem using this heatsink in passive mode, however, they dont recommend this operation if you are going to use the cpu in a demanding way.

By this they refer to games, video editing, and those sorts of tasks. I just looked again for this info, but cannot find it. However, I am sure if you bought a e6600, you're not going to keep it at stock speeds. I tried to replace the supplied 12cm fan, but the bracket supplied just isn't flexible enough for a 38mm depth fan.

Can I pass on a tip for you, and others! I recently bought this great hsf, installed onto my motherboard, and everything went well. Until I try to install the motherboard tray back into the case. The heatsink is so big, that I could not install the mb tray into the case.

So before mounting onto the motherboard, check to see if you have clearance before making the same mistake as I did.

I have this installed on a C2D e6300, I cannot tell you how it performs yet as I haven't had time to play.

I hope some of this helps anyway.
