Why are so many using P965? Where are the 975X boards?

Hi guys, is this the best board to match up with conroe [E6600] and crossfire?
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS) Price: £149.95 (£176.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Also what RAM would you recogmend with this board. I will not be overclocking.

If not overclocking then I'd definately say yes because of all its features. As for ram, anything above pc4200 really for stock... I myself bought 2GB of ADATA DDR2-667 which I got for £90 off a popular auction site (yes you know which one..) which I thought was a great deal even if they aren't great clockers..

These seem quite good for the money

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5300 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit

Speed : DDR2 667MHz (PC2-5300)

Price £117.44

Prolly get those :)

lol ok but what is the differance in the two chips? Does one perform better than the other.

965 = 6 sata 10 usb, 1 addon chip supplying 1 ide and 2 extra sata
(Trusted Platform Module)

975 = 4 sata 8 usbs 1 ide

What's their definition of 'performance' and 'mainstream'? Are just the SLi/crossfire versions going to be 975X?
