Looking to make the switch to conroe but at the moment not happy with boards. I really need 3 pci slots (wireless, tv, x-fi) and the asus is the only one with that but i keep hearing problems with it for memory and i had problems with asus boards back on s939. Also what are the hacked drivers like that allow sli and are they available yet - still cant find them. How much longer before nf5 is readily available and how are dfi boards for overclocking on conroe

I think it depends which memory you use. If you're buying all new parts, then I can tell you that I've seen the corsair 6400 c4 and the geil 6400 working just fine in the P5WDH, and it's been overclocking really well so far, though I couldn't comment personally about FSB speeds that would need anything more than air to cool.

From what people have been saying, the nForce590 SLi intel chipsets seem to be overclocking really disappointingly. Sad, as i was hoping to hop to one to get the option of authorised SLi. With talk about nVidia enabling SLi drivers to work on the intel 975X chipsets though, i'm going to sit and wait for a while and see what happens.

Was the geil 6400 that i was thinking about after seeing gibbos review of it. The asus seems to top out between 350-400 fsb and seems to have a few people not liking it over at xtremesystems. The etc extra features such as wireless, remote are a nice touch

If this is enabled does this mean that SLI will work on a crosffire compatible board such as the DFI or ASUS 975x? Also wondering if the DFI is any good?

Before I bought it, I had a good look around at the various forums and reviews, and the general opinion was that, unless you're getting into at least watercooling, or some sort of extreme cooling, it's great for the Conroe chips, but not the best choice for the Allendales, due to their lower multiplier and therefore need for a higher FSB.

I have a Conroe rig, using the P5WDH D and an Allendale rig using a Gigabyte GS3, which I've pushed up higher than my P5W DH's 380 FSB. I've not tried the P5W DH seriously any higher than 390 because my E6600 was getting too hot under the Ninja. So i have no idea personally how it copes under faster FSB settings. Xbit reckon it tops out at around 420, which would give an overclock to 3.78GHz.

edit: yes it would creed, but nobody knows anything about when/if it'll ever happen, or what it would entail. It seems to be all speculation at the moment because as far as I know, intel and nVidia haven't said anything substantial about it, unless anyone's heard something I haven't.
