Conroe Chip - Use X64 Windows???

Hi,

Just ordered a new processor & board etc from OCUK

Chosen one of these new Conroe chips by Intel - They look great

Which Windows do I run on these chips? - Do I install Windows x64 ??? or stick to normal Windows?

So you're saying you've bought a CPU but you're not sure if it's 64-bit or not?

If that's the case I'd stick to 32-bit if I were you.

Most CPU's that are coming out will most likely and conroe chips are 64 Bit capable. Meaning you can use either version of windows

look out for this in the CPU's specification
"EM64T 64-Bit Technology"

Stick with XP, i've had a lot of problems with X64 recently.

I nearly grabbed myself a copy of that to see if it would offer a boost in performance, so glad i didnt get the bug and just go and buy it.
