is it 64bit ? i need to know what version of ubuntu to download, 64bit one or the normal 32 bit ?

Yes the cpu is 64 bit capable, also 32 bit, so you can get whichever version of ubuntu and it should work if it supports core 2.

I'm running XP Professional 32Bit on my E6300. It's a 32Bit CPU, magnificant!
