I ask this question because it seems the E6600 can be overclocked well beyond the X6800 stock clock speed. However, the x6800 has an unlocked multiplier. Is it worth forking out the extra for the x6800 or not?

Thanks

hmmmm.. well quad core will benefit me cos I will be using the chip for rendering images inside of Maya (thats a 3d content creation package).. the more cores the faster the render time I guess. Will it be that much more expensive than the x6800 do u recon?

Think I may actually go for one of these processors as I think it will really benefit my render times quite considerably. Might try and get one cheaper off ebay though after a few weeks having been released. £680 is steep for me at the moment, specially since just forked out for a 8800 GTX, not much left in the bank
