Conroe E6600 Temps

Just built my new conroe based system, im using a scythe ninja plus cpu cooler and my idle temps seem around 50 degrees on core temp, I have tried reseating it so many times im getting fed up with these damn push pin connectors, what is the correct way to seat this awkward cpu cooler, im finding it very hard on a Asus P5W64-WS

just reseated it and started again and now im seeing 38 on asus probe idle and around 45 on coretemp, is this ok

well running prime now and its up to 52c on asus probe and 59c on core temp

seems to fluctuate now between 60 and 63 in core temp every second on core 0 but core 1 seems steady at 59c
