Looking for a low cost vid editing solution - don't want to go above c£600ish excluding monitor. This is my first effort - I'll expect to overclock a bit

Any thoughts?

looks pretty good. You would benefit from having 2gb ram. Will you be gaming at all? if not swap the card for something cheaper and get 2gb ram.

PC is for parents, so I doubt any gaming will take place. I couldn't bring myself to put a completly poo card in though, but a good point re 2gb, especially as they might do a bit of photo editing as well. Any suggestions at the budget end?

I'd go for something like this, assuming you're not looking to overclock this PC?

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA) (MY-012-GS)

Your other main components (mobo and CPU) are extremely capable of large overclocks, and if this is something you may want to do in future then I'd go for:

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL)

If the PC isn't going to be used for gaming, then I'd def switch the 7600gt for something lower spec.

I'll overclock it a bit intially, then possilby more down the line as vid editing wants as much power as possible.

So a revised spec to include the 2gb Geil 6400, and a crappier graphics card.

Time to order and get building next week (might still change the monitor to a standard 19inch though)
