Everyone seems to be jumping on the Conroe band wagon , it looks very tempting and ive got the money there to do it ..

But there are no reviews out atm, that show just how much quicker and E6400 ( The chip i want ) Clocked at 3Ghz is, over the X2 4400 @ 2805 ( My current chip )

I'm thinking of ordering the bits tommorow in my lunch break , but i would like to hear from people who have gone from Dual Core AMD to Dual Core Intel,

Have you seen noticably quicker windows load times ?

Faster Windows Browsing ?

Quicker Game Load Times ?

Its going to cost me just under £500 to upgrade to what im after, but from what people seem to be saying, conroe doesnt feel much quicker to them :(

I look forward to your replies :)

everyone should buy conroe if your into games, definately get the lower clocks & if you can get 3G you will be laughing - trust me :)

hello m8 ive got a 6400 at over 3.5 atm - ill bench against you to give you a comparison?

yeah, let me get my self sorted ;)

I'm pretty dissapointed tbh, I won't hit 3.5 on water (dual prime stablE) NO WERE NEAR which is pretty terrible lol

I think core 1 is stable at 3.7-15mins so far.. more testing needed

I also think the board is responsible tbh, that asus pro looks nice :)

eh?

The gaming performance difference between C2D and X2's at high'ish resolutions is so small it is probably the LEAST compelling reason to swap out an X2 for a C2D. Especially as an X2 at 2.8ghz will place the bottleneck pretty much solely on the gfx card at anything above 1024*768.

For general use/gaming i would say there is absolutely no reason to upgrade now. When faster GFX cards come out so as to place the bottleneck on the CPU then you will see a benefit with upgrading, but by that time the next evolution of the CPUs and quadcore will be out. Conroe will be much cheaper etc.

If you encode and do media things a lot then you should see a very big difference. Just ask easyrider.

Duo 2 chips are an upgrade. No one forces anyone to own one. The question is ... is the duo the better chip ? answers on a self adressed evelope. ;)
