Hi there

Right built the rig.....

ES X6800

Those who have overclocked Conroes or have done plenty research what is considered the maximum safe voltage for good overclocks with decent air cooling?

P.S. Anybody using Intel Bad Axe, whats the best BIOS settings and BIOS to use?

From what I've seen 1.5-1.6V is within reasonable bounds. Perhaps nearer the 1.5 side if this is something being sold off as a retail system.

Gibbo,

In the intel mboards you list Intel Extreme D975bx-304 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-010-IN)

NO OEM does this mean your getting retail ones in?

lol I so hope mine isnt doa///I had the first batch too but I need to wait on the 6600 before I can check it ;-(

Have you had a look on the site lately? its saying that the Intel Bad Axes are not OEM any more, does that mean that you will be getting a retail one?? :)

Yep specified I want RETAIL this time and Intel hope to get us 200 for the ETA shown on the website. :)

I am running my X6800 ES at 1.4v at the moment and it seems stable at 3.6GHz with Zalman Cooler. My FSB is 440FSB and memory is on AUTO, think I can push the memory more next......

So 1.4v is perfectly safe then, it seems to hit approx 55c underload in this heat.....

Think I will give 1.5v ago soon, maybe I will see 4GHz, especially with tonights cooler air. :D

Are there any popular benchmarks you guys would like me to run?
If so please post but also provide a link to where I can download from.....thanks. :)

let me know how you do with the Retail version of the IntelBad Axe mate... or which ever one your running... if you crack 4Ghz I will be getting a retail one off you!!!

and yes push the RAM a little Gibbo :)

Whats your multiplier set too??

Ive run mine upto 1.575v in bios (which shows as less in bios hardware monitor) to post at 4.1Ghz. i have seen people use 1.7v under phase.

Ive primed for an hour or so at 3.9Ghz with 1.575 but temps in the 60's worried me, though ive seen a lot higher :D

Im running 3.8Ghz with 1.465v duel prime stable atm.

On intels data sheet it states the max vcore threshold to be 1.55v.

Hi there

Upto 3.85GHz with 1.525v don't think I dare give it any more voltage though. My god its quick! :D

Thats the best that I can get too mate... you need to get a copy of Prime to see if its stable :)

These things are clock for clock, what 40% faster than A64 chips, and people are getting close to 4ghz in the first week of availability with no guidelines and rubbishs BIOS's?

I forsee a hand-me-down episode towards my younger brother soon and another reason why I can't quit my job just yet.
