I'm going to be new to Intel when the conroe is out...
Just wondering what ram im going to need to oc the Intel Core 2 DUO E6700 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.67GHz 1066FSB

I guess im going to need DDR2 that'll run @ 1066mhz???
I want to get a really good aircooled overclock from this cpu so what ram to you guys suggest. Obviously I dont wanna be paying £300+ for crazyram, So whats the best midrange stuff for a really good overclocking potential I dont want ram holding me back with my new beast =D.

Help much appreciated

Cool so that chip should easy hit 3.6ghz u reckon?
So i could just use those settings 400x9 and get some PC2-6400 and run @ stock speeds.

It won't be 400 x 9 for you because the E6700 will have 1 more multiplier than the E6600 listed in the above chart.

You will be looking as follows:

Max 1:1 overclock for E6700 with PC2-5300 RAM = 333MHz x 10 = 3.33GHz

If you want to overclock beyond that, you will need PC2-6400 RAM to keep the overclock ratio 1:1.

I assume the ram can be overclocked. Does anyone know how far the G.Skill 2GB DDR2 ZX PC2-6400 can be overclocked. I'm planning on getting the E6600, so using RAM at stock speeds I can get up to 3.6 Ghz, but if I get lucky with my conroe stepping how far can I push the RAM?

Sorry for the apparant newbiness. I haven't tried overclocking DDR2 before.

Cheers!

Could I say oc it to 3.2ghz or more and keep ram @ 800mhz
I aint buying anything slower than that

Yes, you can buy PC2-6400 RAM but it won't be running at its rated 400MHz speed if you only overclock to 3.2GHz. It will run at 320MHz if you overclock your E6700 to 3.20GHz.

To get your PC2-6400 RAM to run at its rated speed, you will be looking at 400MHz x 10 = 4.0GHz (only applies to E6700)

lolol 4ghz?
Will it run ok on air at that speed seems a bit severe 2 me

Would the bus still be 1066?

lol, I strongly doubt you'll get 4GHz on air. Remember, you can still use DDR2 800MHz RAM (PC2-6400) even if you have no intention of overclocking, it will just downclock to the appropriate speed. I should have said that PC2-6400 will allow UPTO 4GHz with the E6700 :)

This might help you:

I've heard deltas, yes, in plural running all in 12v.

Reminds me of a nice sunday morning, with me and my lawn mower.

But I'm pretty sure a fan controller can do wonders, when you're sleeping, your system is unlikely to be gaming right? Turn it down to 5v should be okay, but I've not heard a turned down delta, so don't quote me on the "should be okay".

just been looking about on google and to run a Delta on a fan controller u'd need a fan controller than can cope with 29w+

Sunbeam controller can only handle 20w per channel, thats the only fan controller which can run that much.

=(
