unforuntatly im sturggling a bit more on that front im still running ye olde s478 3.2 prescott and the cobwebs have been heat sealed onto the mobo so i cant even clean them off
A 3.2GHz Prescott is hardly slow is it! I'm sure you'll live another few months. I have two systems a 600MHz Duron and a P4 2.8C @3GHz. I'll prob. upgrade this year but there's no rush.

P.S. Posted from Treo 650 due to power cut, 40min so far!

do you think it would be possible to get a overclock out of it that comapres to one of the higher FSB core2s?

Well so long as it gets to around 2.5Ghz I'm happy. As far as i'm aware, yields for these cpu's are very good so I should think they are just speedbinned E6300's and 6400's. Afterall it should be cheap as chips :)

Me aswell m8 had it two years now,due an upgrade E6600 here i come :D

hmm would you use this or buy another one???

Depends on if your going to overclock it or not. I got a P4 celeron a month ago, to use as an asterisk machine and it was cheaper to buy a retail version than an oem version for some reason. Anyway not only did i find the heatsink was able to keep it pretty cool, it was also very very quiet, so i was quite impressed.

Obviously if your going to overclock then get yourself a better cooler, but for running at normal speeds, i see no reason why not.

I don't quite understand that ram overclocking chart :( How far would i be able to overclock the E6600 with Gskill pc5300 ram? would it be able to hit 3ghz?

Just wish the motherboards would hurry up!
