the only thing that worries me about waiting, is that there is a possibility that the good clockers will be gone by then. i assume that to get more people like those that frequent this forum to buy the chips and to increase positive word of mouth that the early batches will be good clockers.

if we wait, there is a chance i would think that those chips wont clock as well.

Sorry, don't agree with that logic at all. If anything later chips should be better not worse.

I agree, every revision of chip so far has brought greater clocking gains. So it would suggest they're likely to improve further.
 
Guess one could wait till September or till Vista (Jan-April07) but then again the E6600 is 250 quid its too temping to not go for the conroe right now....

You never know with Vistas scedule the only thing I see happening come September is either ATI or Nvidia release there next gen beast... one surely will.

I,m waiting till next year, then the 2.93GHZ version will become even cheaper.

I'm skeptical about that to be honest.

If the hype (justified) continues as it is, and AMD doesn't drop the prices of their FX line then Intel will have very little incentive to lower their prices.
 
I'm going to take a few days around that time and devote them to my pc :)
Call me a geek all you like but I'd rather be a geek than not :)
