It really depends on what you want to use it for.

Breaking world records.. sure
Overclocking on air.. not really
Overclocking on phase or DICE.. maybe
Not overclocking.. not really

for me the E6600 is by far the best deal and I have yet to see that the higher multi of 10x is worthwhile over 9x because current boards do around 420fsb which would be about 3.8ghz on an E6600..

i dont understand all these Conroe CPU speeds

is the E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GH about the same as a
Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ :confused:

I thought the clockspeed of the X2 4600+ was 2.4GHz personally.

I know that the FX-62 is 2.8GHz and the E6600 is equal/better than that, it's probably that whopping 4MB of cache helping out too.

As far as I know the E6600 is actually faster than both the X2 4600+ and FX-62.

Edit: Disregard that, I just realised I was looking at an XE6800 benchmark. Stupid me.
