The only thing at the moment that I am having trouble with is the G skill.
I am currently using some crucial ballistix that allows me to boot straight in at 3.6ghz 9x400 rock solid stable 1.375v

With the HZ 6400 in I cannot boot past 330 FSB
I will be spending some time on this issue though and will get to the bottom of it.

I had the badaxe but got rid of it,The bios was pap IMO.And it would act odd in prime etc......

But other than that I like the DFI mobo.
Feels solid :)

The Asus can get higher fsb's but I couldn't be bothered with the faffing of flashing the bios with an old chip that I didn't have to get my conroe to work lol!
So it's possible the ASUS is a better board? I have access to my sister's prescott 550 - which I would forcibly remove if needs be, I mean hey, I built the damn thing - so BIOS issues are not present for me. It's a toss up at the moment for me as I need to sort out his build before his holiday which is the end of july but don't know which board to get.

/OT - who's been dishing out the funny beans whilst I've been away and man, how people's rigs have changed *cough* easy *cough*.

They run great on air but you have to have the "Salmon" cpu cooler.

LOL I've been reading this thread quietly but I just had to say CS||nuTs that was ******* HILARIOUS! :D

On Topic....

The Asus has issues too like not liking a 1:1 ram setting etc....
fine on a divider though devious likes his. :)

Yeah new rig....Just had to sell my s939 stuff while I could still get top dollar for it. ;)

For £252 you can get the E6600 which is the best bang for buck option :D

I think the 6400 is, cache wont be that important for general purpose will it

I would spend the extra and get the 6600 you can add clockspeed but you cannot add cache.

Come on at around 250 is a bargain for the E6600 :)

I see your point but its a fair old gap in price that is no doubt nessecery due to greater production costs.

Iam not buying this month so I'll just watch the benchmarks for now. Cache size always shows a depreciating return on speed though, Iam just not sure how much yet

The OP seems to have gone a little quiet, I've been waiting for his latest outbreak of verbal diohreah for a while now!

Give Drazic a break, I think he may just not convey his message very well and the vultures here are too quick to critisise (I'm no angel either). Let him clarify.

:)

Wasn't this the guy who posted someone elses OC results and claimed them to be his?
He's also the same guy who constantly and emphatically claimed that Pentium 4's were better than AMD's for gaming, no matter what the benchmarks say.....

It's the "I am right, no-one else knows what they're talking about" attitude that really gets everyones backs up!

Ok im ordering the 6600 now the mobo and ram choice?

Motherboard is a bit of a mess atm mate! :(. The ASUS requires a new bios to run Conroe (Its not shipped with that bios though!!). The BadAxe requires some sort of hardmod to enable the OCing options . And the DFI only has one IDE slot... but otherwise its ok... Ask in the motherboard section for more info :)

As for RAM, i think many people are going for the G. Skill 6400HZ. These can be overclocked to very fast speeds! They are also very cheap... check the link under the description of the item at OcUK!

So why would Intel release "a all conquering cpu" without the backup of hardware to go with it?

Im sure Conroe was not a secret to the likes of ASUS,MSI,DFI! Why are we having to wait for decent support for it?

Excuse my ignorance on this but i only decided to try the 6600 out about 2 hours ago so have not really looked into it.
