My mate told me yesterday that he want's to upgrade his computer next month and can spare about £600
He basically needs Mobo/cpu/gfx/ram
He's currently got an old XP2400 system with 512 kingston ram (2x256).
Reckon the only things he will be carrying over will be HDD,CD/DVD case and the recent enermax 500W psu.
It has to run 24/7 and play battlefield 2 and prefrably be dual core and a conroe system since he only upgrades roughly every 3 years.
I was thinking it would be worth forking out on an entry level conroe and a top notch board and saving money on the graphics card for now, since it's easier to upgrade/replace than a mobo/cpu..
It'll get an overclock but it has to be one that I can do for him then just leave it so it can't be unstable or need to have settings changed constantly.
I did consider building a system for him based around the Intel 805 processor leaving extra money to spend on graphics etc, but with core 2 duo's next month and also his upgrade having to last 3 years.... well.. it just seemed like it was worth the extra.
