Why? The first lot of DX10 cards won't be useful cause no games will be out to support them. Get a good card now and a good DX10 card in a year. You'd really let your new pc down going for the best possible CPU and a bad gfx card.

What he said really, especially if gaming. Drop the X6800 (& X1600XT) & get a proper card like the X1800XT with a E6600 or E6700 :D

Id never spend that kind of cash on a CPU m8, are you sure you really need that kind of power?

Id go for the £250 conroe and overclock it to those speeds tbh. In 4 months time that CPU will be much cheaper.

I agree with all the above, if you are willing to overclock doesnt seem too hard with these chips then i would get the E6600 as would save you a nice amount.

Then you can spend a little bit more on the graphics as you will otherwise just be disappointed with the system and get a x1800.

I don't agree that the CPU will be cheaper - FX/EE chips don't seem to go down an awful lot in price.

I do agree however that unless you intend to overclock it a lot you'd be better off with an E6700 or possibly even an E6600.

You made the right choice bumping your graphics card to X1800, though I'd say you might even want to think about the X1900 series.

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) ok upgraded again:) will all this go toghter ok?

If you have a lot of money I would say go with the extreme edition if not then dont bother and get something else like the 6700 or the popular 6600

Stelly

Don't be taken in by the man Mark35! Just kidding Stelly, have you got your X6800 all up and running? I noticed your thread in the CPU section this morning.

staying with the 6800 i had the fx 51 when it first came out done me till now i want top of range for few years again and i want 4 gig :)
