Hi,

Im thinkin about selling my rig in my sig and going conroe (possibly waiting for kensington quad core though)

The spec I will have is:

Conroe E6600 (or wait for kensington quad core)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-8500C5 TwinX
XFX 7950GX2 (possibly looking to get second one in a little while) (getting rid of my 7800's)
Asus P5W64-WS Pro Intel 975X
Creative X-Fi

and what im keeping from my current rig:
raptor 36gb
200gig sata seagate
200gig sata2 samsung
4x 120mm led fans
3x 80mm led fans
3x cold cathodes

I currently have a 580watt HiperX
I'm thinking about replaceing it with the 900watt tagan

Opinions?

the hiper type R will power that rig fine at the moment!

Should be even ok with 2 gpu's in!

It's not just Watts of a PSU that count - It's the quality of those Watts.

So in reality he could really get away with a 400 Watt PSU - But only if it was a pukka PSU ;)

So my advice would be - Go for something 480 Watt or more (as those graphics cards are top end) but just buy a quality brand.

Tagan, Antec True Power, Seasonsic, Enermax, Hiper are also ok.

Doubt he could get away with a 400w. A friend of mine has SLI 6800GT, FX55, 1GB Corsair XMS3200 Pro & his takes about 380w full load.

Sorry - but that's my Opinion :)

People just buy high Wattage PSU's and they don't really need them.

It's not the Watts you pay for - It's the quality of those Watts ;)

True, but you still need adequate watts on that PSU.

well since i already have a good quality 580 watt im not about to go and buy a 480 watt...

and I lokoed at some PSU calulation sites, for that rig they say it will draw 477watts...and with SLI 7950 it was something like 600

so i think 480 would be pushing my luck...580 would be too it seems according to those sites

I purchased a new OCZ 700W GameXtreme - excellent PSU which comes very highly recommended from reviews and XS. In a 7 (or was it 11) PSU roundup on legitreviews, it came top.
