I was just wondering what factors I should consider when running my GPU overclocked throughout the day.

Will it add more to the electricity bill, will it be able to run on stock fan speed when it's not being stressed in 2D?

I currently use Rivatuner profiles for different apps, but was curious.

Depending on the overclock it definitely will. Most current stock cards downlock themselves automatically too if they're not needed saving power, so if you perform a manual overclock it'll be drawing full wattage all the time.
I did some experimentation with Rivatuner about a year ago trying different clocks and monitoring the whole system power draw using a power meter at the socket. It could make a huge difference, up to 100W depending on how I over/under clocked it. It'd be like leaving an extra lightbulb on all the time.
Using an energy cost calculator online you can find out how much extra per year it will cost you to leave it on the overclock 24/7

i have a custom underclocked/undervolted profile (240mhz @ .85V) for 2d use and an undervolted/overclocked (905mhz @ 1.285V) profile for 3d use. Why not do that? you can have the best of both worlds.

I have a 9800GTX+ using the following profiles.

2D it's at 370, 920, 550 (1100)
3D it's at 800, 1910, 1240 (2480)

Stock is, 738, 1836, 1100 (2200)

So you think I should undervolt it even further for 2D?
