Hi all, I have this ps3 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12122377#post12122377
but all i use it for is metalgear (which I am near completion) and ff7 (an 11year old ps1 game). The 360 game lineup>>>>>>>the ps3 game lineup.

Are 360s still breaking? A friend has a release one and the dvd drive was like a dyson and the power brick was like a lawnmower!! Shame really as other than that the console wasnt half bad.
I often browse threads on 360s and recall a mention of a newer chipset resulting in a cooler and quieter console??

Unfortunately I do not kno much about the 360, enlighten me:)
Is the elite the one to buy??

EDIT: I only use consoles for exclusives, I use my pc for multiformat games.

The reliability issues on new ones are now fixed, as far as I know. I've had an Elite for 3/4 a year and had no problems. Personally I think its more to do with looking after it properly than problems with the equipment.

I don't find the noise to be a problem, its only noticable if there is only silence coming from the TV.

Just been to see another friends one, his is the one that came with the hard drive and his is much much quieter (on apar with ps3) in terms of noise. Then just before I left to come home it 3 red lights him! It wasnt a release console but it is 18months-2years old.

the RROD seems pretty random. I had it once.... but if you get a new 360, you dont have to worry about it. Even if it does happen you lose your xbox for a week at no cost and get a free months gold as compensation. Thats even if the worst happens.

Dont let the 360 fail rate put you off as it is an awesome console. I bought extra support for around £60 for an extra 3 years which covers if anything other than the RROD breaks (DVD drive, HDD, Controller etc)

Their are plenty of exclusives to the 360, Halo 3, Mass effect, Forza 2, Gears of War (1/2), Rockband (UK exclusive i think), Ninja Gaiden 2, Dead Rising, Saints Row, Fable 2 and their is quite a lot more.

Theirs a new interface coming by Nov/Dec this year which brings with it new community features as well as Netflix option which means you can download films with your netflix sub (when it comes to uk).

Live is one of the best features people say but i dont really use it that much, i have gone back to silver sub now until this netflix feature comes.

Go for it, great console.

I saw on another forum earlier today that MS are claiming a 4% failure rate with the latest model.

For ther record I've had my older revision Elite since August last year and it's not had a single problem.

edit: and as you play FFVII I take it you like rpgs... (as do I)

Get Lost Odyssey & Blue Dragon for jrpgs (and maybe Eternal Sonata and Enchanted Arms), Mass Effect for a very good wrpg and look forward to Infinite Undiscovery, Fable 2, The Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia and Fallout 3 (with exclusive dl content) all exclusive this year.

Years ahead of any other console in terms of functionality and game library.

New features coming later this will polish it off for me, sound excellent!

All DVD drives are loud, so nothing they can do about that, apart from reduce drive speed, which = slow loading/texture popping. Going be solved by full game installs later this year.

the latest revisions are FAR better than the original ones, and it's a top console, what are you waiting for, stop thinking and START BUYING!!!!one!!1!!!1!11! :D

i've bought two, i tried to stay away, but all the good games dragged me back in!
